We are coauthors of The Nameplate: Jewelry, Culture, and Identity, published by Penguin Random House in 2023, and cofounders of the research project Documenting the Nameplate.
The Nameplate has received recognition from The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Guardian, Bookforum, BRICK Magazine, Office Magazine, The Fader, Vice, Hypebeast, WhoWhatWear, Kaleidoscope, Hyperallergic, Current Obsession, Snobette, Bustle, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, PIX11 News, and Dressed: The History of Fashion, among other outlets.
We have written about our research for chapters in the books Black Futures (ed. Jenna Wortham and Kimberly Drew, Penguin Random House, 2020) and Fresh Fly Fabulous: 50 Years of Hip Hop Style (ed. Elizabeth Way and Elena Romero, Rizzoli, 2023), as well as QED: A Journal in GLBTQ Worldmaking and the Journal of Marketing Management. The Nameplate is part of the collection of the Costume Institute Library at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was included in the traveling exhibition “Worn.”
